This hymn adapts the melody of a traditional chant, to invoke St Peter under various aspects of his life with Christ and his mission. It seeks his prayers and protection, recalling his mandate from Christ to strengthen the brothers. It is in the dorian mode, with some use of a syncopated lilt.
